The Journey Continues January 18, 2012

New Context EdgeCase

Over five years ago we started on a journey to create a company -- the company we always wanted to work for. Recently, some friends of ours offered to help us continue on that journey and we accepted. We have not yet arrived at our final destination. We continue to hike along. The opportunity to reach our original destination and then continue on to new sites and explore new territory was too much to pass up.

Today we are announcing that Digital Garage has acquired EdgeCase. Together we are forming New Context, a company dedicated to bridging the divide between design and technology while helping build new companies and improve the software side of existing ones.

EdgeCase has been the quintessential example of a lean startup. We did not know how to build a company; we knew how to build software, one step at a time. Our goal was simply to build a company that followed this principle. We achieved it with the help of our friends in the community, other companies with similar visions, our fantastic EdgeCase team, and clients who ultimately taught us as much as we taught them.

We celebrate our success, but feel that we are not done. The opportunity to team up with Ian McFarland, Kent Lindstrom, Mikihiro 'Miki' Yasuda and Kaoru Hayashi is exciting. Add in the opportunity to learn from Joi Ito, an inspiring force in the internet community, and we couldn't say no.

Technology success is about people. Today we begin the next part of our journey with people we could not be happier to walk beside, and we will continue to work for our clients with the same passion and rigor we always have.

Thank you to everyone who got us here - the communities that have taken us in and the friends that stood beside us. We are looking forward to a bright future.

Sincerely,
Joe and Ken
